Consumers make purchasing decisions for everything from cars to presidential candidates using the Web. Often they start looking in one place, and through links, end up making a purchase decision based on information gleaned from another site or source.  So when it comes to marketing your photography services Website, it’s important to think outside the box and consider all the possibilities.

Use Links
  • Wedding photographers should link to caterers, wedding planners, florists, bakeries, jewelers, bridal gown and tux stores, and reception halls.  See The LIttle Black Book: The Best Wedding Vendors for wedding vendor link ideas.
  • Baby and Children photographers can link to day care services, diaper services, summer camps, schools, clothing and shoe stores, hair salons for kids, sports stores, music and dance lessons, party stores, tutorial services, and other service merchants.
  • Senior photographers can link to SAT/ACT preparation services, tutorial and college planners, clothing, shoe, hair, nail and spa merchants, insurance agents, financial advisers, party planners, consumer electronics, entertainment sites, job sites and more.

Why is linking important?  Because you barter with them to provide links and banner ads to your site in exchange for you providing the same to them.  Better yet, if you post pictures from a wedding, you can list these other vendors, with permission of the couple.  And then the vendors can post your pictures showing their product and your photography with your name on their site. Linking maximizes the effectiveness of your Web marketing efforts.

Promote Your Web Address

Make sure all ads and promotions carry your web address. When purchasing classified ad in print editions of newspapers and magazines, many also offer a Web listing for free. Community Web directories list services as well.

Use Meta Tags

And last, be sure to work with your Web designer in maximizing meta tags for search engine optimization (SEO). Since most people don’t look beyond the first couple of pages delivered in searches, investing in SEO that helps people find you easily is worth the investment.
